“I am so pleased with my progress since I’ve started working with Margaret. I developed LPR early in 2023 and was really suffering with throat and ear pain for months. It was a very stressful and upsetting time for me as it was really affecting my lifestyle. I started working with Margaret in May, and am so happy with my results so far. I've just returned from a trip to Greece where I was able to eat and drink anything I wanted! It felt amazing after all the stress. Read More”

“I suffered with Gastritis/LPR for over 6 months bouncing to multiple GI/ENT specialists to only be giving loads of omeprazole and other anti acid medications. I knew there had to be a better way to tackle this... I'm pleased to say that before starting the program between 1-10 (10 being bad off) I was a 9. Now I am a 4 in seven weeks of following the program's guidance. I also had a long list of other symptoms that have all resolved. Read More”

“Prior to starting the Reflux Relief Academy I had heartburn symptoms multiple times EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I had every symptom on the list. I had all of the symptoms of GERD while also having all of the throat symptoms such as sore throat, lump in throat, difficulty swallowing, etc... Since starting the academy, I have seen a drastic decrease in the amount of symptoms I have on a daily basis. I am able to eat foods again that I was scared to eat before. I can honestly say that it has changed my life. Read More”

“I had been struggling with GERD for over 30 years and the last year dealing with gastritis... I was desperate to stop taking the PPIs. I knew they were causing other issues like anemia. I ordered every supplement Margaret recommended. I can't believe how quickly I started to get relief. Within a week I was no longer taking Pepcid every day. I'll occasionally need a Tums if I eat something too spicy but that's all. My sleep has improved too. I feel so much better physically and mentally. Read More”

“When I discovered the Reflux Relief Academy I was in a place where I had struggled with LPR for quite a few very long weeks. I was not getting a whole lot of guidance from my doctors (of which I went to a primary, ENT, and GI) who were all consistently prescribing me more and more PPI medication...I have recently stopped taking all my PPI medication at this time and am slowly backing down the H2 blocker prescribed as well (first time in 4 years not being on a PPI)... Thankfully with this program, I’ve learned the tools and awareness of how to not have to do that anymore!! Thank you, Margaret! Read More”

Frequently Asked Questions
-
1. Have you helped other people with the same symptoms I have?
These are common symptoms of LPR (silent reflux) among incoming members of the Reflux Relief Academy. When the multiple causes of reflux are addressed, the symptoms all start to go away. There are some food, supplement, and exercise recommendations that help with specific symptoms (like sore throat, heartburn, or abdominal pain), but the overall goal is to stop reflux at the source.
- Throat: Hoarse voice, Throat Clearing, Throat Burning, Feeling lump in throat: “Globus”, Trouble Swallowing.
- Nose: Post-Nasal Drip, Congestion.
- Ears: Ear Pain.
- Mouth: Sore throat, Sour taste in mouth.
- GI: Constipation, Abdominal Pain, Heartburn, Nausea, SIBO (bacterial overgrowth).
- Chest: Chest Pain, Dry Cough.

2. Do you recommend certain supplements in your program? How many?
I share my favorite supplements for acid reflux in the program, and I’ve found that people generally see much faster results when they take supplements. They aren’t meant to be taken forever: The goal is to improve our health and function of our bodies so that we no longer need supplements. However, sometimes our modern world and modern lifestyle makes it hard to get everything we need for proper GI function without extra help from supplements. In the program, I explain what each supplement does, why you might want to take it, and how to take it. Most people in the program take between 3-4 supplements to begin with. (I’m also able to pass on a discount for high quality supplements to members within the US and Europe excluding the UK)

3. Shouldn’t I get some diagnostic testing done before I start the program? I have an endoscopy scheduled and will see what that says before I get started.
Not everyone needs diagnostic testing to figure out what’s going on. For many people with reflux, an endoscopy will confirm what you already know: that you are suffering from acid reflux. An endoscopy will show if there is inflammation, Barrett's esophagus (changes to the esophageal tissue), ulcers, structural issues like narrowing of the esophagus, gastritis, and sometimes they will take a biopsy to test for h. Pylori. Similarly, colonoscopies can detect polyps, diverticulitis, colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, etc. It is entirely between you and a trusted doctor to determine your need or desire for an endoscopy. However, you don’t need test results to get started in the program. If you are experiencing symptoms of reflux, looking for answers, and want to gain a better understanding of why reflux happens and what you can do, there’s no need to wait.

4. What about diet? Is there a specific diet to follow?
In the Diet module, I share diet guidelines and address some of the most common questions related to reflux, like food intolerances, trigger foods, special diets, and general food FAQs. An ebook of favorite recipes is included as well. But, I don’t suggest strict elimination diets or give a specific list of “yes” and “no” foods. The program focuses more on improving the way our bodies process food. Once you improve your digestion, many foods that were previously triggers no longer cause discomfort or reflux.
-
5. How long does it take people to get rid of reflux? Can reflux truly be “healed” or just managed?
This will be different for everyone, because stopping reflux depends on a lot of different factors. Some members of the program have experienced reflux for years, and some only for weeks or months. There are many different causes of reflux, and some are more quickly addressed than others. It also depends on how much effort each individual person puts into following the recommendations. Generally speaking, people start improving within 2-3 weeks. As far as considering reflux completely gone, that can take longer. Sometimes, it can take months to years to fully address tissue damage and restore balance to the GI tract. But, that doesn’t mean you will spend months to years with the same reflux symptoms you have now. What generally happens is that people feel much better and stop experiencing reflux all the time. They may experience “flare-ups” of reflux more commonly in the first few months, but now they know how to address them right away. A flare-up may last a few days rather than months on end. As they continue with healthy habits and improving their digestion, these flare-ups become less and less frequent until they aren’t really a concern anymore.
-
6. How does your program work for everyone if there are so many different causes of reflux? How can it be personalized?
Because the program focuses on improving the overall function of digestion, the nervous system, diet, and the gut microbiome, many different causes are addressed at one time. There are also more specific concerns that not everyone will have (SIBO, H. Pylori, gastritis, etc), and these are discussed in detail. The education in the course empowers you to address your particular issues while improving overall function.
-
7. How long does it take to go through the program/online course?
Because the online course is self-paced, everyone takes a different amount of time to go through it. There are six main sections, and each video is about 20-30 minutes, with accompanying action steps and other downloadable handouts. It doesn’t take too much time to go through the information, but because there are some lifestyle changes in there, it can take time to implement everything. This will vary from person to person. This program has a lifetime membership, so once you join, you have lifetime access to current and future materials.
-
8. Can you just give me a list of supplements and foods that get rid of reflux?
Really understanding what is happening in your body and what to do about it results in more long-term success than just giving you a list of supplements to take. Not every person with reflux will need to take the exact same supplements, and supplements are not the only solution to getting rid of reflux and keeping it away for good. The same goes for food. For most people, diet changes alone don’t get to the core of the problem. The education within the course helps each person determine what will make the most impact for them individually. It would be irresponsible (& dishonest) to give a simple list of supplements and foods that will get rid of reflux for everyone. We’re all individuals, and the purpose of this program is to provide you with both education to make your own decisions and simple steps to help guide you.
-
9. Do you recommend a bunch of supplements to everyone in the program?
Most people who go through the program take 3-4 recommended supplements specifically to help with reflux. The goal is not to take these forever, but people tend to make much quicker progress if they take at least a few of the recommended supplements.
